Set in the heart of the continent, Zambia remains to this day a wonderfully untamed location for safari. Walking safaris, from intimate little camps in remote and beautiful reserves, take guests deep into Livingstone country.

Tracking lions intimately on foot in the morning can often be followed, in the afternoon, by sipping champagne on a river bank, or watching a leopard with her cub play in the soft light of dusk during a night drive.

Game drives, canoeing, walking, game-tracking, as well as observing wildlife from a hide can all be combined as part of your stay, without the intrusion of the crowds. The best known safari area lies to the east, where the wonderful South Luangwa National Park provides the iconic Zambian bush experience, along with the more remote North Luangwa and its specialist walking camps.

Unspoilt savannah landscapes are complimented by an abundance of wildlife, and are often preceded or followed by taking in the immense Victoria Falls on Zambia’s southern border. In the lower reaches of the Zambezi River Valley is another fantastic reserve, also offering motorboat and canoe trips to complement the usual vehicle and walking safaris.

The vast Kafue wilderness in the centre offers ballooning safaris and a chance to spot cheetah in its only remaining Zambian range. Wild dog packs and a huge untamed wilderness await the curious guest, from incredibly remote yet deceptively well-appointed, bush camps. A destination unlike any other, Zambia merges the safari experiences of a bygone era with a natural, old-school atmosphere, and some of the best guiding in the world.
